It’s the member you gravitate toward above the rest of the group — not necessarily a crush, just your favorite. Fans track “bias wrecker” status too: the member who keeps stealing the top spot even though you swore someone else was your bias.

Stan, Sasaeng, and the Spectrum of Fandom

To stan a group means to support them enthusiastically — streaming, voting, buying albums, the whole picture. It’s a healthy, normal level of fan investment. A sasaeng (사생팬), on the other hand, is the industry’s word for a fan whose obsession crosses into stalking: tracking flights, hacking personal accounts, showing up uninvited. Agencies and fellow fans alike treat sasaeng behavior as a serious problem, not a badge of devotion.

Fan Events: Fansigns, Fancams, and Photocards

Healthy fandom has its own vocabulary of joy. A fansign (팬사인회) is a meet-and-greet where lucky winners (usually chosen by album purchase lottery) get face time with the group. A fancam (팬캠) is fan-shot footage that follows one member for an entire stage — the reason certain members go viral for a single knowing look at the camera. And a photocard is the small collectible card packed inside albums that fans trade, display, and occasionally spend far too much money chasing.

None of this is incidental — streaming numbers, album sales, and fancam views directly influence chart placements, awards, and even which member gets center stage next comeback. Understanding this vocabulary isn’t just fandom trivia; it’s the language the entire K-pop economy runs on.
